The Photo-Spintronics Investigating R&D Committee under the Technical Committee on Magnetics, IEEJ summarized this technical report based on the research activities from April 2011 through March 2015, which survey basic research field where the interaction between photon and spin plays an important role and applied research field for the development of ultra-high density and high speed storage devices. In chapter 1, the purpose of the establishment of the working committee and the overview of the research activities were summarized. In chapter 2, researches and progress of a near-field transducer for heat assisted magnetic recording were described. One of the alternative technologies to achieve dramatic increase of the recording density, magnetic holography, as well as optical properties of meta-materials were discussed in chapter 3. In chapters 4 and 5, measurement techniques on the domain observation with ultra-high spatial resolution and the spin dynamics with ultra-high time resolution were briefly described, respectively, and typical measurement results were also discussed. Furthermore, all-optical magnetization switching using an ultra-short pulse laser, which will be a future technology for the ultra-high speed magnetic recording, was introduced in chapter 5. |
