Photovoltaic (PV) power generation has been spread rapidly in Japan with backing from an aggressive PV-introduction target set in "the Action Plan for Achieving a Low-carbon Society" approved by the Cabinet in 2008, and the feed-in tariff launched in 2012, etc. The decrease in quality of power and problems in protection and security in the grid are of increasing concern. Therefore, the advancement of values of PV, e.g., kWh-value, kW-value, environmental value, is indispensable for sustaining the dissemination of PV. With this background, various value-enhancement technologies of PV Power Generation System were surveyed and put together into the technical report as follows: Issues for mass introduction of PV into a power system Evaluation technologies for values of PV power generation system (kWh-value, kW-value, environmental value) Advancement technologies of PV system (analysis methods of outdoor performance and system reliability, design methods for yield improvement, monitoring technologies, etc.) PV system technologies enabling direct contribution to the advanced grid operation (PCS technologies, application technologies of storage batteries to PV systems, etc.) Indirect technologies for harmonization between PV systems and a power system (PV generation forecast, demand activation, etc.) Trends in PV and related technologies in Japan and the world |
