	The information network is widely spreading throughout society, and its functions and performance are improving remarkably. New services and businesses using this network are also emerging. It is expected that the expansion of the network scale and improvement of services will continue to progress steadily. We are therefore anxious about the large increase of energy consumption that will accompany network expansion. The "Investigating R&D Committee on Information Apparatus Energy System Trends in Home and Office" was set up and investigated following energy saving technologies and systems in home and office. (1) information network technology,(2) renewable energy and energy accumulation, (3) Energy management system(HEMS and BEMS) , (4) Power Electronics technologies for energy-saving,(5)The policy by the government and countries The trends in the high-speed broadband technology for home and Public network are covered in Chapter 1. The trends in energy generation and accumulating technology are described by Chapter 2. The trends in HEMS and power management technology such as peak-shift control are covered in Chapter 3. Trends in power supply circuits and devices applied for home electronics energy-harvesting are shown in Chapter 4. Technology trend regarding railway field is also described. Green energy promotion policies of foreign countries are described in Chapter 5.
