Owing to the progress of power electronics technology, DC traction motors have been replaced by AC motors, which brought large benefit such as increased power, reduced weight, reduced maintenance work and increased energy efficiency. In this report, the investigation results of the technologies for high performance traction equipments are shown. The main part of this report consists of six chapters: technologies of high performance traction motors, technologies for high performance electric power converter for tractions, technologies for main transformers and other components, technologies for high performance electric energy storage system for tractions, technologies for high performance rolling stock systems, and base technologies for high performance traction systems. Energy saving technologies using energy storage systems and high performance traction systems are shown as well as the high performance traction equipments. This report focuses on the investigation of energy saving technologies such as the high efficiency traction equipments, the estimation method for consumed energy and energy efficient driving. |
