This technical report is a summary of the investigation activities carried out by the "Investigation Committee on Industrial Applications of Pulsed Power Technologies" of IEEJ, during the 3-year period of October 2004 ~ September 2007. In recent years, as pulsed-power application fields extends into sterilization, flue-gas treatment, laser pumping, and biological effects, the application-driven pulse generation technologies are also experiencing fast development. The committee has focused on this technical trend, with special concentration on repetitive pulsed power source development. In addition, the up-to-date application status on X-ray source, microwave generation, biological and medical applications, and material applications have also been studied. It is expected that the power semiconductor devices will play an important role in the future pulsed power developments and, in the application respect, atmosphere discharge and biological related subjects will be further highlighted. |
