In this past, industrial linear motion systems chiefly used a hydraulic cylinder, pneumatic cylinder or ball screw driven with rotary motor. The linear motor which has been used for devices in the logistics and factory transportation in 1980's is being widely used also for industrial devices involving the advancement of the design of making high thrust technology and the sensor and control technology now. Accordingly a higher function is being requested to the linear electromagnetic drive system which uses a linear motor along with it. In order to achieve this, the grasp and selection of a lot of elemental technologies such as the linear motor, material, support mechanism, sensor, and the control technology are indispensable. In this situation, the results of investigating the elemental technologies used for the linear electromagnetic drive system were compiled in a technical report so as to be useful for not only the engineer who develops the linear motor and elemental technology but also who uses the linear electromagnetic drive system. In this report, the followings are described in detail; (1) Functions of the linear electromagnetic drive system which achieve a high performance device and elemental technologies demanded to the system, (2) Current status and trends of elemental technology used for the system, (3) Applications of the system and elemental technologies used. |
