Investigating R&D Committee on IT Applications to Management and Operation in Power Distribution system |
||
Electric deregulation, expansion of distributed generation and economic pressures force electric power companies to enhance the efficiency of management and operation. One of the solutions to address these situations is application of information technology (IT) to various equipment and systems. Since power distribution systems have much apparatus and extensive activities on management and operation, IT applications to a real time monitoring and operation, such as detection of the degradation in electrical equipment, are useful for electric power companies to supply high-quality electric energy to their customers. For economical reason, electric power companies will be driven to pay attention to the replacement of existing infrastructure by new one with IT. The committee has investigated applications of IT to management and operation in power distribution system from the overall aspect. This report provides the latest trend in technological development of power distribution system. It also discusses prospects for future IT applications. The main results obtained here are shown below. 1. Current situation of management and operation in power distribution system 2. Transition of IT applications to distribution system management and operation 3. Transition of sensing, information transmission and processing technology 4. Perspectives of IT applications to distribution system management and operation |
