	Virtual simulation systems and their applications
	R&D Committee on the application of virtual simulation systems
	There are many application fields of virtual simulation systems such as medical treatment, medical care, rehabilitation, network communication, entertainment, amusement, product planning, and design presentation. These fields are expected to be major research areas using more advanced simulation technology in the future. This report describes some concrete simulation areas among the above: three-dimensional sound, road traffic system, universe weather forecast, landscape image in virtual space and safety of high-speed ship cruises in the ocean. Also, one of the problems in virtual simulation technology is user interface, and as the user interface, image input, three dimensional mouse, pace ball and three dimensional digitizer are studied. In these days, a new technology called tangible interface, is also studied. We believe that this report should contribute to R&D in the future.
