The evaluation method and application of insulators under various contamination environments
Investigation Committee on Application and Evaluation of Insulators under Variety of Environments
The contamination problem of insulators is one of important problem for an insulation design and maintenance management of electricity facilities. In recent years, social demand to electricity are a harmony with environment, more reduction of supply cost as well as stable power supply and few breakout, and change more in quality. To cope with these, application of new developed insulators are discussed with the advancement of anti-contamination design technology, countermeasure to contamination problem and maintenance technology. The first one of these is polymer insulator with light weight, weatherability and superior withstand voltage characteristics under contamination condition. The other is semiconducting glaze insulator with suppression effect of a partial discharge and with superior withstand voltage characteristics under contamination condition. These new insulators have the insulation surface characteristic that is completely different from conventional porcelain and glass insulators, and aging deterioration of materials is pointed out. To apply these insulators to severe contamination environment adequately, establishment of insulation performance evaluation method on a new viewpoint such as contamination measurement, withstand voltage test under contamination condition and evaluation test of long-term performance are demanded. Therefore, this investigation committee started investigation related to the influence of the contamination environment and condition to the insulation performance at October 1999. And we investigated the evaluation test method of insulator, problem in the application of insulator to contamination area, insulation design under contamination environment and contamination performance of polymer insulator, semiconducting glaze insulator and etc.. In this report, grasp of contamination environment, test method considered the characteristics of insulators and evaluation of aging characteristics are described. |
