It was an important issue how the metal superconducting materials were made up into the superconducting wires and conductors. The high-Tc superconductors and the recently-discovered MgB2 superconductors are also the same. Then, Technical Research Committee on Wire and Conductor Technology of Superconducting Materials was started since October, 2001, in order to investigate the present condition of the wire and conductor technology of superconductors for the purpose of development of superconducting applications. In particular, three types of the high-Tc superconductors, i.e., Bi2212, Bi2223 and YBCO, and two types of the advanced metal superconductors, i.e., Nb3Sn and Nb3Al were investigated. This book is the composition of 7 Chapters. Chapter 2 summarizes superconducting applications using wires and conductors. Chapter 3 summarizes the superconducting characteristics of wires and conductors. Chapter 4 and 5 summarize wire and conductor technology of the high-Tc superconductors and the advanced metal superconductors, respectively. Chapter 6 summarizes MgB2 superconductors and the other new superconductors. This book gives useful suggestions for the development of superconducting wires and conductors, which is expected to apply for the superconducting power applications | ||
